Author Instructions

1. Article Types

  • Original Research Articles – ≤ 7,500 words; up to 8 figures/tables.
  • Review Articles – ≤ 10,000 words; ≥ 50 references.
  • Short Communications – ≤ 2,000 words; max. 3 figures/tables.
  • Perspectives & Commentaries – ≤ 1,500 words.
  • Meeting/Conference Reports – ≤ 1,500 words.
  • Book Reviews – ≤ 1,500 words.

2. Manuscript Preparation

  • Language: Clear, grammatically correct English. Non-native authors may use professional editing services.
  • File Format: Word (.docx) preferred; LaTeX accepted with source files.
  • Layout: A4, 2.5 cm margins, Times New Roman 12 pt, 1.5 spacing.

Structure: Title page, Abstract (250–300 words), Keywords (4–6), Main text (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion), Acknowledgments, References (APA 7th or Harvard style).

3. Figures and Tables

Figures: TIFF, JPEG, or PNG (300 dpi photographs, 600 dpi line drawings). Tables: numbered consecutively, short titles, notes below. Captions required for all figures/tables. Submit separately in addition to embedding in text.

4. References

APA (7th edition) or Harvard style (must be consistent). Cite only peer-reviewed or accepted works. Self-citations should be minimal. Research papers: ≥ 25 references; Reviews: ≥ 50 references.

5. Ethical Responsibilities

  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
  • Studies involving humans/animals require ethics approval; informed consent mandatory for human subjects.
  • Plagiarism: Submissions screened; overlap >15% not acceptable.
  • Authors must not fabricate, manipulate, or falsify data/images.
  • Conflicts of interest must be declared.
  • COPE guidelines followed for corrections/retractions.

6. Use of AI & Large Language Models (LLMs)

AI tools may be used only for language improvement. AI/LLMs cannot be credited as authors. Usage must be disclosed in the Acknowledgment section. Authors remain fully responsible for accuracy and originality.

7. Peer Review Process

Double-blind peer review by at least two experts. Decisions: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. Typical review time: 4–6 weeks.

8. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright. Upon acceptance, authors grant the journal rights to publish and distribute. Reuse of third-party material requires written permission.

9. Open Access Policy

JSAFI is an open-access journal. All articles are freely available online without subscription barriers, ensuring global visibility and accessibility. Authors are not charged for access fees, but Article Processing Charges (APCs) may apply as per journal policy.

10. Declarations

  • Funding statement
  • Conflict of interest declaration
  • Ethics approval & consent (if applicable)
  • Consent for publication (for human studies/images)
  • Author contributions (CRediT taxonomy)
  • Acknowledgment of AI/LLM use (if applicable)

11. Submission Checklist

  • Manuscript formatted as per journal style
  • Title page with complete author details
  • Abstract (≤ 300 words) & 4–6 keywords
  • Figures/tables labeled and uploaded separately
  • References in Vancouver style
  • All ethical statements included
  • Permissions for reused content obtained
  • Disclosure of AI/LLM use (if any)

All submissions must be made exclusively through the online submission portal. Authors should ensure that the main manuscript file is anonymized and does not contain any identifying author details. A separate title page with the article title, author names, affiliations, and corresponding author contact information must be uploaded as an individual file.
