Author Instructions

1. Article Types

  • Original Research Articles – ≤ 4,000 words; up to 8 figures/tables.
  • Review Articles – ≤ 6,000 words; ≥ 50 references.
  • Systematic Reviews & Meta-Analyses – ≤ 6,500 words; PRISMA guidelines recommended.
  • Short Communications – ≤ 2,000 words; maximum 3 figures/tables.
  • Case Reports – ≤ 2,000 words; structured format required.
  • Perspectives / Commentaries – ≤ 1,500 words.

Manuscript Structure: Title page, Abstract (250–300 words), Keywords (4–6), Main text (Introduction, Materials & Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion), Acknowledgements, Funding Statement, Conflict of Interest, Data Availability Statement, References (APA 7th edition).

3. Figures and Tables

Figures must be submitted in TIFF, JPEG, or PNG format (300 dpi for photographs; 600 dpi for line drawings). Tables should be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals and include concise titles and explanatory notes where necessary. All figures and tables must include captions and should be uploaded as separate files in addition to their placement within the manuscript text.

4. References

  • Only peer-reviewed or formally accepted works should be cited. Excessive self-citation should be avoided.
  • Minimum references: Research articles – ≥ 25; Reviews – ≥ 50.
  • In-text citations should follow the format: (Author, Year).
  • Reference list must be formatted according to APA (7th edition).
  • All references should be listed alphabetically by author name.
  • DOIs must be provided wherever available.

5. Ethical Responsibilities

  • Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Studies involving human participants or animals must receive approval from an appropriate institutional ethics committee.
  • Informed consent must be obtained for studies involving human participants.
  • Clinical and observational studies should comply with ICMJE recommendations.
  • Case reports should follow the CARE guidelines.
  • Plagiarism Policy: All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection tools. Similarity exceeding 15% (excluding references) is not acceptable.
  • Data fabrication, falsification, or image manipulation is strictly prohibited.
  • All conflicts of interest must be clearly declared.
  • The journal follows the ethical standards and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

9. Open Access Policy

Annals of Medicine and Medical Ethics (AMME) is a fully open-access journal. All published articles are freely accessible online without subscription or access barriers, ensuring wide dissemination and global visibility of research. Article Processing Charges (APCs), if applicable, are communicated transparently according to the journal’s editorial policies.

11. Submission Checklist

  • Manuscript prepared according to journal formatting guidelines
  • Separate title page with complete author details
  • Abstract (≤ 300 words) and 4–6 keywords
  • Figures and tables correctly labelled and uploaded separately
  • References formatted in APA 7th edition
  • Ethical approval and consent statements included (where applicable)
  • Permissions obtained for any reused material
  • Disclosure of AI/LLM assistance (if applicable)

All manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the online submission system. Authors must ensure that the main manuscript file is fully anonymized for double-blind peer review. A separate title page containing author names, affiliations, and corresponding author contact details must be uploaded as an individual file.
